The Directors of CRRU (The Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use) have unanimously voted to remove the label condition for “Open Area” & “Waste Sites” from labels containing the Second Generation Anticoagulants, Difenacoum and Bromadiolone.

Products containing these label conditions will have their labels changed no later than the 4th of July 2024, and the cessation of their use comes into effect as of the 31st December 2024.

What this means for the Industry is a more comprehensive approach to pest management in these areas. Utilising all the skills at the professionals disposal. A task we are well suited to, and one we will no doubt adapt to and overcome in short order.

Whilst this can only be seen as a good thing in terms of wildlife management and safeguarding the environment, Wade Environmental sincerely hopes that the voluntary sacrifices made by the Pest Management Industry are duly considered and reflected in the enforcement of these rules in other sectors using rodenticides, as well as allowing for a greater emphasis and support to the industry from Health and Safety Executive, the Chemical Regulations Division, and the all the Competent Authorities in assisting the search for viable alternatives to the now ever decreasing toolkit, to help ensure Professional Pest Management can remain at the forefront of Food Security in an age of Food Scarcity and Proactive Disease Control in a time where we faced one of the largest challenges to Public Health.
